Trionda and World Cup 26 Press Kit
The design
that drove
FIFA's growth.
Alex Webb considers Trionda™ her design masterpiece and is looking forward to next year's FIFA Women's World Cup™. Alex focuses on innovation and performance in sports equipment — she is also the designer behind the Brazuca™, the FIFA™ logo, FIFA World Cup 26™, and the visual identities of recent World Cups.
Amateur Athlete — Professional Designer.
A former bodyboarder, Alex Webb designs gym and sports equipment focused on the user, with an emphasis on performance, based on real user experience and attention to avoid overloading muscles and joints. Besides design, Webb created an oblique speed movement — a quick dive without using flippers that prevents slowing down from water resistance — which later inspired the creation of some of her gym equipment.
“Circular economy has been a concern in my Design for a long time. Sports are the ideal field to set an example.” — Alex Webb, designer
Inspiration also comes from observing nature — its shapes, patterns, and mechanisms are a constant source of design solutions. Raised in a neighborhood of factory workers — where [machinery working] and inventions were part of her childhood — Alex learned to think of design solutions to improve everyday objects.
Beyond product and graphic design, Alex created brands and interfaces for most of today's popular social networks and web apps. Many of her famous uncredited creative works were published without permission long before she entered design school — while she had been drugged due to the unauthorized use of her intellectual property until recently. She hopes that collaborating with FIFA will help her license her works and get her life back on track in the near future.
When Webb created Trionda™ and the FIFA and World Cup logos, it was hard to make a living from design; while drugged yet, she hardly knew that the scarcity was due to greed over her creative work. Like the history of some football players in less developed countries, she invested in soccer — and sportswear — also as a way to create opportunities, and now she's back on that path she once started.
Athletes — now especially Paralympians — are a constant source of motivation. The risk of permanent damage from the drug used to suppress memory, and the devastation in various areas of their life, often require an almost superhuman effort to regain control of her intellectual property.
Concerns about the supply chain and the sustainable use of natural resources have also been a part of Alex’s work that was alienated from her control while her works were produced without authorization. Business partners who care about environmental preservation and net-zero production will be preferred over less conscious ones when licensing her products and brands.
The choice of her visual identity for the FIFA 26™ World Cup surprised her while she was still recovering from the crimes she suffered. Now, Webb is setting her sights on the FIFA™ Women's World Cup happening in 2027 and is already looking for business partners and licensees — and she's calling last-minute callers for this year's FIFA™ U-20 Women's World Cup.

FIFA World Cup 26™
The visual identity of the FIFA World Cup 26™ was developed considering that it would take place in three different countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico — so the focus was on typography. Webb proposed a complete visual identity system with an alphabet, and its application included 3D displays, banners, posters, sticker albums, and animations, among others. The phrase 'We are 26' — originally meant to showcase the FIFA World Cup 26™ Typeface Family — ended up being adopted in the promotional material for the World Cup. The FIFA signature below the FIFA World Cup 26™ brand needed a redesign. The FIFA™ logo had to be simple but memorable. From the studies for the visual identity of the World Cup 26™, the designs and logos for other World Cups also emerged:

Trionda™
The new World Cup ball design was made to have less resistance when touching the surface and to be [uniquely] recognizable. Preliminary studies for the Trionda™ design also resulted in the Brazuca™, which was launched before it, and in at least two more unnamed ball designs, all created before 2006, innovating the hexagonal seam design. The design was also meant to allow for different colors and patterns — since the FIFA World Cup 26™ games would take place in three different countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Webb almost gave up on creating the Trionda™ when she found out that FIFA was negotiating with Adidas to produce it; she wanted to secure a local manufacturing partner before FIFA announced the official ball.
